The Dreaded Word

Colin has added a new word to his vocabulary this week, "why?". I'm not sure that he totally understands what he is asking, but he uses it at very appropriate times.

At the bus stop this morning, after begging to get "down" & play on the playground:

Me: "Colin, it's time to go home."

Colin: "Why?"

Me: "Because we have to get ready to go see Miss Debbie (his PT)."

Colin: "No" (currently his other favorite word)

Me: "Colin, you need to talk nicely to Mommy."

Colin: "Why?"

We have been so excited that he has started vocalizing what he wants rather than signing for everything. Now I'm beginning to wonder why I was so anxious!

Interesting Observations

We were making the short drive to Grandad & Nana's house the other day when we passed by a cemetary. There were huge sprinklers watering the grass and Cooper pipes up from the back seat with, "Look, they are giving them a drink! pause Get it?" He wanted to be sure that old mom & dad comprehended the depth of his humor. :)

On the same short car trip, we saw several football players walking down the sidewalk wearing their jerseys.
Cooper - "Look Dad, basketball players."
Brad - "Cooper, I think those are football players."
Cooper - "Oh yeah, football players are the only ones with muscles"

More Wedding Pics

Here are some pictures from the wedding rehearsal that my wonderful friend Caroline took. Colin was pretty sure the whole production was just for him. As one of the ring bearers, he was last to come down the aisle before the bride. As he came in through the back doors, the entire platform was already full of people (there were 22 total attendants!). Every few feet he would stop and wave at everyone. When he finally reached the platform & climbed all the stairs (while still holding on to his pillow - quite an accomplishment!), he put both hands in the air & said "ta-da!".

I made it!

The beautiful bride

You can't tell which one of us is older, can you? :)

Being a ring bearer is hard work!

The Wedding

My sister got married about a week and a half ago. It was quite the event! All four of us were in the wedding, so we asked Brad's parents to come & help with the kids. Papa & Mimi made trips to the bus stop, ran Colin to therapy, feed meals, coaxed stubborn little people down the aisle, kept them occupied with snacks during the ceremony & tucked them into bed when the festivities ran long - there is no way we could have done it without them! Here are a few pics from before the wedding. I hope to be able to post some from the ceremony in the next few weeks - Colin put on quite a show! :)

First day of school

I can't believe it, but school has already started for us. The boys were both very excited about their first day!
Cooper felt like an experienced first grader & started riding the bus all on his own the second day of school. With a month of preschool under his belt last Spring, Colin thought he was a pro, too!

Oregon vacation

At the beginning of July, Brad's whole family met on the Oregon coast, including grandparents, aunts & uncles, and of course all of the cousins. The beach was soooo cold, but that didn't keep the kids out of the ocean!

But I think their favorite part was warming up in the hot tub on the deck!

My attempt at blogging

People (namely, my wonderful friend Robyn) have been bugging me lately to start a blog. It's actually something I have been considering for awhile. I'm terrible at keeping in touch & this seems like a great way to keep everyone updated. The only problem is that my talents do not include writing, unlike the previously mentioned Robyn. :) But I will do my best to chronicle life with my wonderful husband & two beautiful boys!
